First few days

The 3 smallest pups are not as vigorous and require consider extra care, but all pups are gaining weight.   We are offering frequent private and assisted nursing opportunities to the smaller pups, helping to express the milk when the little ones suckle.  Orange boy is the weakest of the pups and didn't develop a strong suckle reflex until Day 2.  I am keeping the small puppy pool extra warm, poor Riley is being a trooper staying with them in the puppy sauna.  Riley looks great, normal body temperature by Day 2, great appetite, and quite relaxed about everything although she has harrassed the cats a few times for getting too close.
